Notes to Savor Till Today
Mr. L.

You certainly made a hit with Gregory today! He is so enthusiastic not only about “studying Israeli” but about learning in general. He asked his dad if he could still study and learn new things when he gets older.

Emily L. (mom of a 3rd grader)

(The third graders were studying about life in 3 or 4 different cultures and I spent some time in each class sharing some of my experiences as I had recently lived for a summer on a kibbutz in Israel.)

To Mister L.
who takes care of the school, your pretty good at it.

Laurie N., grade 1

Dear Mr. L. I have something to say. I here that you are mad at the dump becase thay have too much stuff.
So I thught and I think I got it. Why don’t thay burn the stuff Ha?

Denise S. grade 1

(This note was in relation to the controversy to expand the landfill located about 200 yards behind our school sport’s field. It provided a great opportunity to deal first hand with some environmental issues.)

HAPPY PASSOVER

Mr. L.

I am Jewish too!

Rebecca S. (grade 3)

Mr. L.---

The duties of a principal are so varied--even temporary loans are given! Thank you very much. Maura was impressed with your spontaneous gesture. Thanks

Ann C.

(Inside the note card are still taped 2 quarters to repay me for the “loan” I gave Maura
when she was in the hot lunch line and realized that she had lost or forgotten her hot
lunch money.)

Dear Mr. L.

Thank you for letting me look at your pennies. I found 5 that I needed.

Yours truly
Joseph C.
(grade 4)

(Joey collected coins and stopped me in the hallway and asked me if I had any pennies. I told him I had quite a few in my office and he asked if he could check to see if I had any he needed for his collection. Why not?)

Dear Mr. L.,

Thank you for saying “Hi neighbor” whenever you walk by.

Sincerely,

Mark F
(grade 5)
